Kirkland -Wabi Sabi Home

Project overview

This Wabi-Sabi–inspired home was originally meant to involve furnishing just one room, but as time went on, the project continued to grow. This family of four loved the look of a contemporary home, yet they wanted it to feel warm and approachable. With two kids and one large dog, durability was also essential.

When selecting fabrics, I focused on linen-inspired materials that offered a soft, organic look while still being stain-resistant and life-proof. Every piece in the home was either commercial-grade or slipcovered—like the two sofas in the living room—to ensure it could truly stand up to everyday life.

It was such a joy to help them find pieces that not only fit their lifestyle but also looked stunning within their home.

Details

For this project, I helped evolve the design from furnishing a single room into shaping a cohesive Wabi-Sabi–inspired home. I carefully selected durable, linen-inspired performance fabrics, sourced commercial-grade furnishings, incorporated slipcovered pieces for everyday functionality, and ensured every selection felt both beautiful and practical for a busy family with two children and a large dog.
