Seattle - North West Contemporary Townhome

Project overview

This project was for a client who truly appreciated the beautiful wood tones already present in the home. With such great bones, no structural changes were needed—just thoughtful design to bring their vision to life. They love contemporary spaces but wanted to know if a modern home could still feel warm and inviting.

The transformation came through layering texture, warmth, and intentional details. In the formal dining room, we added a custom wood slat feature wall that instantly became a focal point and brought depth and richness to the space. By introducing earthy, grounded tones throughout, we balanced the crisp white walls and created a more welcoming atmosphere.

Custom bamboo roman shades softened the once-bare windows, and furnishings in natural materials—leather, linen, raffia, and wool, added texture and warmth. The result is a contemporary home that feels elevated yet cozy, refined yet approachable.

Details

For this project, I developed the overall design vision to create a home that felt contemporary yet warm and inviting. I designed a custom wood slat feature wall in the formal dining room and layered in rich, earthy tones to balance the crisp white walls. I curated and sourced furnishings in natural materials like leather, linen, raffia, and wool to bring texture and softness into the space. I also ordered custom bamboo roman shades to add warmth and dimension to the windows.
